Do you remember the ball out your parents got you for your first birthday? Basically is was just an inflatable pool and 100 plastic balls that barely covered half of the bottom of the pool. But you loved it.
What was especially great was the fact that now you also had a pool for the summer.
It was another nice day outside when your mom decided to test out your little pool. Unfortunately, your parents didn't have a water hose and your dad was away, so your mom lugged a cooler full of water back and forth to try to fill the pool. Similarly to the balls, the water barely covered half the bottom. And it was cold.
Your mom had brought out toys. You played with your boar for a minute but the combination of the cold water and lure of the birds in the yard made you quickly dismiss any more pool time. Your mom brought your toy car outside and you rode around until your dad got home.
Earlier in the day, your mom had blended a smoothies minimum and frozen some of it to make Popsicles. It was the perfect time for you to try your first Popsicle: hot day with lots of water nearby to rinse off the mess afterwards.
You refused to return to the pool so your mom put you in the cooler and let you have your Popsicle. You seemed to like it, but after a pretty big bite, you experienced another first: brain freeze.
Your face was so sad. Never had you had such an influx of opposing emotions. You loved and hated that Popsicle all at once.
Even though it was a rough first go, your parents knew there would be more Popsicles in your future--they would just have to teach you how to eat them slowly.
